Canadian WISH Team Members:

Gail Brownlee – Chair

Occupational Health & Safety Officer for the Government of Canada with extensive project management experience in the private and public sectors. Gail has been to Haiti on short-term mission trips and has volunteered many years with the Canadian Red Cross.

Steve Hawkins – Vice-Chair

Senior Business Manager financing recreational products in South Eastern Ontario since 2002. His previous career was a technical news director for a CBC affiliate in Kingston from 1980-2002. Steve’s first trip to the island of La Gonave was in 2018. His team from Kingston rebuilt a roof on the WISH compound and he is now looking forward to future development of God’s work in Haiti.

Beth Churchill – Secretary/Treasurer

First trip to Haiti was in 1982 as a teenager which sparked her love for the country and its people. She spent 5 years living full-time in Haiti working with West Indies Self Help and is currently an Administrative Assistant for the RCMP in Nova Scotia.

Alan Dunn

Owner of Ayer Convenience which has provided him with the flexibility and business skills to serve with many charities through the years. Alan has vast experience with short-term trips, with large-scale fund raising, and is passionate about missions. 

Dean Stephenson

Director Catons Island Camp for 25 years and owns and operates Stephenson Maple Farms. Dean’s love for Haiti is no secret as he has been to Haiti over 20 times and has raised a significant amount of money for various projects, including being the driving force behind “The Breezy Sea”.

Valerie Lewis

First went to Haiti as a medical student interning at the Wesleyan Hospital in La Gonave, Haiti. She returned later and completed 3 years working as a Doctor. She is working in Halifax with a specialty in Geriatrics. She has returned several times while supporting various medical and educational projects.

Robin Churchill – Non Voting Member

Robin has been the Director of WISH since May of 2015. He, his wife Beth, and two children moved to Haiti fulltime that September to oversee the ministries of WISH and remained there as a family. On March 25th, 2020, they returned to Canada due to the Covid-19 Pandemic. Robin continues to split his time between Haiti and Canada. His previous career was as an RCMP officer serving in several Maritime communities and various roles in Federal Policing. He retired after 26 years of service. His first trips to Haiti started in 2007 and continued every two to three years afterward.
